Most of my neighbors and friends in the hay business have gone to CASH only on hay transactions.  I have avoided this policy up to this point while attempting to be careful about those who I do business with.  I have found  horse people are generally hard working, honest people who are a pleasure to know and have as customers.  They also need to have a source of hay every year- writing bad checks is a good way to eliminate sources.  

If you do business and/or assoviate with individuals or organizations who exhibit criminal, dishonest, or disgraceful behavior you do so at your own risks.   I will not knowingly do business with parties who have failed to cover bad checks to me or other hay suppliers.
