You may have noticed that the peafowl have been quite successful with their nesting the last few years.  So much so that we must start selling them.  When we brought our original birds up from New Mexico we had hoped that these still had their 'nesting instincts'.  Many peafowl breeders had warned us that due to breeding practices over the years that the natural instinct of nesting had been 'bred out' of the beautiful birds.  All bird eggs were now incubated to hatch.

Well Anna at Rancho Jacona  http://www.ranchojacona.com/  told us a different story about the birds and hers had been left to nest naturally.  So we made a trip to Rancho Jacona the next year and adopted 4 of her birds.  Oh my but she was correct about their natural nesting insticts.  We now have over 30 prowling around the farm.
